Sarah Cassel is a Senior Policy Associate at ISLG, where she works with government partners and non-profit organizations to build and operationalize innovative criminal justice initiatives.
Prior to joining ISLG, Sarah worked at the Council of State Governments Justice Center as the Program Director of the National Reentry Resource Center, which develops and curates resources that assist jurisdictions across the United States in implementing evidence-based, data-driven strategies to improve reentry outcomes and reduce recidivism. Previously, Sarah served as the Director of Diversion and Reentry Initiatives at the NYC Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ), where she designed and implemented initiatives to safely reduce the jail population and support stabilization in the community post-release. In particular, Sarah oversaw investments in Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) programs, reentry services, higher education access for formerly incarcerated individuals, and restorative justice. Sarah holds a Master of Philosophy in Criminology from the University of Cambridge and a B.A. in Government and Philosophy from Wesleyan University.
