Jennifer Ferone is Deputy Research Director and brings close to 15 years of experience in the development and management of criminal justice research in applied settings. In addition to engaging in strategic planning for the Research Department with ISLG’s Research Director, Jennifer’s role primarily includes building data and analytic capacity among a range of criminal legal system agencies and functions to inform fair, equitable, and efficient policies, practices, and decisions. Her work in this area is particularly robust in prosecution. Additionally, Jennifer manages a research consortium that aims to advance knowledge about what works in pretrial justice, a body of work grounded in the efforts of the Safety and Justice Challenge. In the past, Jennifer has conducted research on the implementation of bail reform, disparate decision-making, and prison monitoring and conditions. Prior to joining ISLG, Jennifer worked at the Vera Institute of Justice managing research focused on systems change in the juvenile justice system. She received two M.A. degrees in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Rutgers University and is A.B.D. in criminal justice at Rutgers University. Jennifer is mom to three girls who keep her weekends full with dance competitions, horseback riding, basketball, ice skating, cheerleading, and trips to Sephora!
