Annie Chen is a Senior Data Scientist at CUNY ISLG, where she supports research and analytic capacity-building efforts with partners across public safety to collect, synthesize, and distill insights from complex datasets. As a Data Scientist, Annie’s work blends technical and research realms. She engages in a variety of statistical analyses and data-driven evaluations to support evidence-based decision-making. A significant portion of her work has centered on understanding policing data, including developing and deploying machine learning models to link administrative data—such as computer-aided dispatch (CAD), body-worn camera (BWC) footage, and stop/arrest records—to enable cross-system analyses of police-civilian interactions. She also maintains code repositories and sensitive databases, as well as builds data pipelines for dashboards. Previously, Annie worked as a computational social scientist at Dartmouth College, designing survey experiments and analyzing behavioral data to inform civic technology. Annie holds an M.A. in Political Science from McGill University in Montreal and a B.A. in Political Science and Criminology from the University of Toronto.
