Ben Estep is a Research Project Director at CUNY ISLG, leading projects on data and analytic capacity building with government partners. He has extensive experience in both criminal and juvenile justice reform and applied research and analysis. Previously, he was the Head of Research at the Centre for Justice Innovation, a justice research and development charity in the United Kingdom, where he oversaw research work and led projects on diversion from the justice system and improvements to the court system for youth and young adults. Before that, at the New Economics Foundation in London, he led a work stream dedicated to identifying and supporting promising practice in courts and across the justice system. Prior to that he was a researcher at the Vera Institute of Justice, where he worked on a range of projects in areas such as juvenile justice, international legal development, and child welfare. He holds a BA in sociology from the University of Chicago and an MSc in philosophy and public policy from the London School of Economics.
