Chris Peraino is a Policy Analyst with the ISLG Operations team who works on a range of projects related to municipal budgets. He conducts research, provides analysis, and writes copy aimed to help improve the budgeting practices of local governments.  

Prior to ISLG, Chris worked as a freelance journalist who covered New York’s nascent cannabis industry.  His coverage typically focused on two subjects: New York’s social equity cannabis program and the labor side of the state’s cannabis industry. He also worked in New York City nightlife for a decade.

Chris holds a M.S. in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy from the CUNY Graduate Center and a B.A. in English with a Journalism minor from SUNY Stony Brook University. Outside of work, he enjoys kickboxing, staying active with his friends outdoors, and any time spent with his wife.
